The Code of Economic Law gives Belgian consumers broad protection. It frames tacit renewal and caps notice periods. For phone and internet, it even lets you leave without fees after the first months.
Telecom and internet: leave without fees
The Belgian Electronic Communications Act covers mobile, landline, internet and television. It lets the subscriber cancel at any time. After the first months of the contract, the operator cannot charge any exit fee.

Energy, gym, press: notice and tacit renewal
For an open-ended energy contract, the consumer can cancel with one month's notice and no compensation.

First, send a formal demand quoting the date of your subscription cancellation and the proof of sending. Then revoke the direct debit mandate with your bank. If the debits persist, report the case to the Economic Inspection of the FPS Economy.
